Physiotherapy and IMS

“Specific guided physiotherapy is a key component in the non-operative management of many shoulder conditions. Physiotherapy also plays an important role in rehabilitation after many forms of shoulder surgery.”

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a doctor’s referral to see a physiotherapist?

Physiotherapists are primary health care professionals so you do not require a doctor’s referral to see one. Direct access to physiotherapy services saves clients valuable time in obtaining a clinical diagnosis and treatment plan, improves patient health outcomes, and reduces unnecessary doctor office wait lists as well as extra billing for the health care system and health professional visits that could otherwise have been avoided.

How much does it cost to see a physiotherapist?

Physiotherapy fees range with treatment resources required and the duration of time required per session or number of sessions. Each client case is unique in its requirements, so ask your physiotherapist for the information you need about the cost of your care.

Less than 10 per cent of patients pay the full cost of physiotherapy services. For many Canadians, health insurance providers cover all cost or a portion of the cost of physiotherapist care. You may want to call your health insurance provider to confirm your level of coverage beforehand.

Please contact Elaho Physiotherapy at 604-892-5688 for individual appointment costs.

What will the physiotherapist do?

With your independence in mind, the physiotherapist’s goal is to restore, maintain and maximize your mobility, strength, function, and overall well-being. Physiotherapists combine knowledge of how the body works with specialized hands-on clinical skills to assess, diagnose and treat symptoms of injury and disability. Each client case is unique in its requirements, so ask your physiotherapist at the time of your appointment for the information you need regarding continued care of your injury.
